Very disappointing use of a few hours. The plot is purposefully misleading. Anyone (!!!) can write a superficial story line and “trick” their reader with deus ex machina. Let’s not pretend it ends with a twist. It ends with the author simply ignoring the inconsistencies throughout the book by creating a new reality. A decent story would have the reader look back thinking how they had missed certain details to reach the “surprise” twist. Rather than take the reader on that journey, this author chose the lowest hanging fruit with respect to plot and character development. The writing itself seems uninspiring, overdone, and lacking in depth and sophistication. If it wasn’t for the subject theme I’d think this is (barely) a teenager’s writing in a class assignment.
