I had high hopes for this movie, I read the book while I was waiting for the movie’s release and fell in love with it. It’s a beautiful story inspired by the book of Hosea, and it’s honestly incredibly spiritual and uplifting. However, I was soooo disappointed with the film version. It felt very rushed, jumping from scene to scene quickly, and there were a few important plot points that were left out, that I personally think could’ve easily been included. It’s a beautiful movie, the cast is great, the cinematography is amazing and even the music is very fitting, but it simply does not do the book justice. Also from a Christian perspective, it’s far more graphic than it ought to be. I do not consider this a “Christian” movie, and would definitely not recommend taking your kids or even your parents or siblings to this movie. Frankly, it does not cater to the Christian demographic 🤷🏻♀️
