An overly melodramatic slapstick movie that copies liberally from some better recent movies of the genre - Andhadhun (yes, I know it's ripped from The Piano Tuner, the French movie) comes to mind.
Some plot devices go completely haywire, such as extreme editing and constant serendipity - everyone keeps running into everyone, no one who is a named character ever gets hurt - err .. ok, no spoilers, so I'll leave it at that.
And actors are all fine, but the child actor, Inayat Varma is a total delight.
(My favorite pet peeve in desi movies is the horrendous acting of child actors, so this is saying something.)
Loved seeing Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra back together after Dangal.
Getting really, really tired of seeing Pankaj Tripathi go through his Nana Patekar phase - he's in every movie playing the same character!
And extremely sad to Rajkummar Rao stuck in 2017. He doesn't seem to act so much as he performs like he's in a circus, reeling off his different histrionics ... as if he's constantly auditioning to be in a movie.
It's not a bad movie to watch when high on weed with friends on a Friday night.
Otherwise, you're wasting your 2.5 hours. Plus the additional time spent writing a review like this to vent and redeem yourself somewhat, you know, some punya for the 2.5 hours of paap.
