Albeit over the top in some scenes, it's a very realistic and well-paced movie. The male lead did exactly what I had predicted, so it would be wildly inaccurate if it were otherwise. Kudos to the writer for not losing the plot. I know we all love fairytales, but seldom do they manifest into real life. The ending was the most satisfying because you could see why he did what he did. His lingering feelings triumphed upon seeing Mai to the point where he lost his composure, and then his mom entered the scene, reminding you why the movie ended the way it did. You see, Mai was once again let down (which she obviously knew deep down), but only this time she channeled that little hope of someone waiting for her into becoming successful in her career. In the end, you could see she respected the mother and understood her because she is also one. She was too mature for that man, and he got exactly the right match in the end. Romance will burn with attraction and will only thrive for so long; what comes after that is a bucket filled with compromises, the weight of which attraction alone cannot bear.
