Don't go into this movie comparing it to the original or the sequels! Go in with an open mind, It was amazing. 5 stars but scale of 1-10 is a 8.1/10
I watched it an Regal Cinema Cielo Vista, for a small theatre, it had amazing sound quality and comfort!
To start, a slightly more darker take depending on the angle you look at it. The story is great, not amazing since the antagonistic storyline is subpar however every other element is solid on its own! The old man could've had a different design element to be slightly more pointer in terms of costume and actor. The action, compared to other reviews complaints, is very well done and not overstimulating at all. People who wish they want more are definitely used to the over saturation of modern age films of violence- This movie does it in a progressive manner that makes it grow with the character's experience. The acting was quite well throughout, some of the reactions of some were a little over and under exaggerated and a little awkward of line delivery once or twice, but a few mistakes is barely holding a candle towards the end product.
The sfx was very very good, CGI could have improvements but primarily was breathtaking in the small moments and in the action scenes. The gore was very incredibly well represented and not overdone! Despite other claims, the sound design was solid and quick fitted into the film. The score could've gone on for a little longer (by a few seconds) in some scene but was fitting towards every. To add, without spoilers, The Opera was a highlight of the film with the symbolism and musicality to match the scene at the same time!!
Ultimately, it brings a newfound comic book vibe to the table, a well done reimagining. I recommend giving it a watch despite the low reviews, which many stem from trying to compare what feels an apple to an orange.
