I’m only three episodes in, and while the show has moments of decent quality and showcases some committed staff, I’m disappointed in how it portrays the healthcare system. Every episode seems to push a narrative of patient care but ends up highlighting the worst aspects of caregivers and the system itself. This portrayal doesn’t instill faith in healthcare—it does the opposite. After watching PULSE, which felt grounded in real practices and carried emotional weight and truth, The Resident feels like a sensationalized and disheartening contrast. It honestly makes me sad to see this kind of representation, especially when it’s being recommended to viewers looking for something meaningful and being currently rated so high as something to vjew.
