Jo Ann Mitchell

I loved the performance by Julianne Moore. She is a wonderful actress and conveyed the emotions of a woman her age who is lonely but still joyful and hoping for love. She wants to be part of her two adult children’s lives but is ignored by them. Her greatest passion is going to clubs to dance. She meets a divorced man who is lonely and looking for companionship. They immediately engage in an intimate relationship but there are problems. He can’t seem to let go of his adult children and fully enjoy the relationship with her. His character is very immature and a jerk. I don’t understand why someone like her who is warm, fun loving and intelligent would continue in a relationship with this man unless she is lonely which she seems to be. Overall this movie is boring even though the performances of all the actors are very good especially Julianne Moore and John Turturro. I do not recommend this movie as it seems to go nowhere.
