Breath of the Wild for adults. I don't say that derogatorily. I love BotW and I'm pumped for the sequel but it will take a lot to steal me away from Elden Ring. If you want a slightly different but equally reductive take -- It's like Metal Gear Solid 5: Phantom Pain and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild had a baby. I don't even like open world games very much. I generally feel like it's a way for designers for get away without creating a level or experience with intention. I know that's not the case but I tend to get overwhelmed with choice and underwhelmed with the choices.
You don't need my recommendation to play this game. If you want to play it you will or already have by now. It's Tuesday after the Friday release. I've played about 6 hours. I had minimal performance issues which in no way took away from my enjoyment. If you're somehow still here and you haven't played Souls or didn't have a good time, give it another try. Find someone that likes the game and play it with them. I bounce off hard and it wasn't until a buddy and I started games at the same time. We cheered each other on and mourned our loses. It turned out I just needed to kill a couple enemies and I was hooked.
If you're reading this because you've played it and you want to see what others are saying, I hope you're having as much fun as I am. I'm looking forward to seeing how this game develops. I only recently got into FromSoft games. I found this one to be a pleasant evolution in that vein. There are so many systems at play and it's a wonder how they managed to keep this game as sleek and elusive as the rest.
No offense meant - This ones for the haters. You can tell a lot about a gamer by how they talk to others about Dark Souls. If you need an example go read the 1 star reviews for this game. All due respect but, I've never seen a more pitiful bunch. If you can't find the story then maybe you need to reconsider what a story is. I'm sorry if *every* monster shreds you but it isn't actually that hard. I'm terrible at video games and I can have some fun in this space. You can too it you want to. But, as my dad would say, you have to want it, son. Lastly, for those who complain about not having a tutorial my I recommend playing through the tutorial area aptly named the Cave of Knowledge. In order to find it you do have to talk to an NPC and *gasp* read/listen. If that doesn't work for you then perhaps you could try Dark Souls 1 or 3 if you'd like to see what a hard game is like. They both have tutorials as well but they're less overt. I don't recommend DS 2 cause I didn't care for it on first blush, I'm sure it's fine and I know people like it, but I digress. Where was I? oh yeah git gud newb
