It’s a lame ripoff of Apocalypse Now. I don’t know how this is not obvious to anyone. The scene about the Distress call...Pit even had the posture when leaning over the pilot that Sheen had when also stressing Mission Priorities...and the monkeys replace the tiger...the recordings, the tone, the brooding internal narration, the weird: dog in hallway like the random horse in A.N.. I was wondering how they were gonna rip off “Charlie don’t surf”, and then there’s the video wall with the surf followed by a vaguely jungle backdrop. The line: “I can get you to the rocket, after that you’re on your own” followed by the psychedelic swim, (echoes the final stage of Sheens river trip with the fireworks), just shamelessly like an art student painting over a masterpiece and calling it original.
