I started watching this show because it was cute enough to distract but not good enough to get fully sucked into. But while it may have had a somewhat bumpy start (lest I change my mind upon a rewatch of the first season), season two and then three rocketed Psych to a short list of most esteemed TV shows. It’s just brimming with creative freedom and variety. I just finished watching the whole 8 seasons and while there are a few episodes that lost my interest early on and never regained it, most were a pure joy, and could probably not have achieved such heights without the fearless and unrestrained approach which takes the risks that enable reaching those higher highs at the cost of occasional failure. Tremendous fun and a wonderful mixture of familiar gags and innovative production.

There must be two of these movies, the one with a female protagonist and one with a male one. The latter, pretty amateur and thin by my reckoning. I’m guessing the other one is better.
