Mr Inbetween is a bad guy. Except (spoiler alert) …. He’s not really a bad guy. He only kills bad people. He’s a good guy really with a heart of gold. Except if you’re a bad person. And then he’s bad. Hence the name of the show. 🙄
This really isn’t as dark or brooding or intelligent as it makes out. The acting is first class and some of the scenes are very funny but it’s let down by the characterisation and poor plot lines. The protagonist is no Tony Soprano - nuanced, complicated, conflicted. He loves his daughter, never harms an innocent person but beats the crap out of the baddies. He kills to order - but only people who deserve it. He also seems completely immune to law enforcement - to the extent where he is interviewed by a crime writer and reveals to her exactly what he does for a living (which of course no one would ever do, but the writers wanted to shoehorn some clumsy dialogue about the ethics of being a hitman) This all makes him a very cool character, and the actor portrays him brilliantly, but this isn’t reality in any way. I think we wish it was.
