Possibly up there with The Killing of a Sacred Deer as some of Lanthimos’ absolute best work. Masterfully executed, at some times downright hilarious and at others brutal and shocking, this is a movie like nothing I’ve ever seen before, not even like anything Lanthimos has made y before. This man is my absolute favourite director working today without question. If you like his other films with Filipou you will love this. If you didn’t like his other work you certainly should not see this, and if you haven’t seen anything by Lanthimos yet, maybe this isn’t the best first experience of this man. Watch The Favourite and Poor Things first, and if your appetite has been whet, then dive on in headfirst to this delicious three course meal.
