It is a fun read at times but I found it hard to follow the divinity in Circe when she’s written as a mortal so many times when she isn’t. At times she claims to be a very weak god and can get physically(even hurt) and emotional manipulated by mortals and at others she’s casually performing miracles that are a footnote to the plot and barely an obstacle. The inconsistency is strange and feels like the back and forth is only to move the plot along. Also while this book is written with the angle of female empowerment, which it does touch upon sometimes well, at other times I feel it still falls back on common tropes like the possibilities of future for women mother, wife, bitter hag when such a protagonist you could think outside the box for that.
