I don't quite get it when people say that this movie is bad. Sure, maybe they know what they're doing, but I chose not to care. I am a huge Potterhead, and seeing this one... ooh I just can't resist to see this. I was longing to see the Wizarding World on the big screen again, and yes watching this movie feels like it welcomed me back home. I am the type of fan who wants to see every single angle available from the Wizarding World. This movie is beautiful, fun, tear jerking, story-rich, unpredictable... you name it. The American wizarding world is amazing. All the acting, characters, CG... they are all perfect. I got chills watching this movie, it happens everytime I watch/read all about Potterverse. I will definitely watch it over and over again while discussing about the characters' stories. I have only one disappointment: Nagini comes from Indonesia but the actress playing her role is not an Indonesian (even though she's Asian), or at least Indonesian descent. But it's alright, the story matters more. So if you want to taste the Potterverse again from different angle, I suggest you to watch this.
Anyways, below are my responses towards the most mentioned "flaw" of the movie, as told by "fans":
- "Plot holes"? Screw that. Yes I admit that this movie is fast-paced with lots of sub-plot and backstories, but hey, this is not the last movie. We can still wait (and speculate) about the continuation of the story. So, don't say that you know everything. You're not the creator, dear.
- "Canonically wrong"? Merlin. What the bloody hell are you thinking? These characters belong to JKR and she could do whatever she pleases with them! JKR is the one making EVERYTHING canon. So you say that Dumbledore is wrong by teaching DADA, or that Professor McGonagall isn't supposed to be there yet? Oh Merlin's beard. She could just fix the birthdates or whatsoever, no? I just respect the fact that she's the author and she's human (a very, very magical one), so if she made an unintended error, it's completely okay. I'm a Potterhead; I respect JKR and her decisions towards the characters. I'm not an ungrateful fan who always asks for more Wizarding World movie/stuff but ends up being bitter about it just because it doesn't go as what I imagined in my head, or simply because I didn't like it. If you're like that, sod off.
- "Unnecessary subplot"? Umm...? As a Potterhead, I crave every single subplot available. Be it about the story of the Potter's cat, the history of house-elves, or even the relationship between Professor Snape and shampoo. I'll devour them the way Ron eats.
Overall, if you want to watch this movie, you need a basic knowledge about Potterverse in order to enjoy it better. This is a great continuation of the prequel. I can't thank JKR enough for creating another story.
Last but not least, this movie is not merely "Exceeds Expectation"; it is definitely an "O".
