Horrible book with a lot of grotesque detail and tons of misinformation painting Gypsy the victim to everyone she’s ever lied to, manipulated, and hurt. This book is full of so many inconsistencies- conflicting with many things she had said in prior interviews. It’s a book of sheer lies and gross descriptive language, detailing an overly sexualized version of Gypsy Rose’s original alleged “story,” previously told to the media. She begins the book by saying her last straw was her mother attempting to, “cut her throat,” on exploratory grounds within a medical office because her mother doesn’t like her squeaky voice and expressed concern to a ENT doctor. A laryngoscopy is a simple procedure where a camera is stuck down the nasal passage or throat to explore abnormalities within the vocal cords. Therefore, she begins her book with a medically unsound, blatant, outright LIE. A laryngoscopy is a non-invasive procedure where the patient is typically awake. Gypsy lied about her mother wanting to “cut her throat.” Exploring the vocal cords is NEVER proceeded with cutting the throat in a medical setting. The book is full of flowery words and unoriginal attempts at clever wording to keep the attention of the reader. As an actual childhood sexual assault and abuse victim, I’d personally like to say that we don’t need Gypsy speaking for us and the book should have come with a trigger warning for those of us who suffered ACTUAL assault and abuse. If she cared at all about being a “voice,” for victims, that would have been her first thought. The purpose of the book wasn’t to reach victims, though. It was to refute lies previously uncovered by content creators, justify her disgusting crime, and to employ weaponized ignorance so that she can PORTRAY that she “didn’t know any better.” She knew better. She had access to phones, internet, and social media. She knew better. Undoubtedly. It’s a book of lies. It’s fiction.
Nothing less, nothing more.
