I liked this first episode of 'What if...?" (Captain Carter) From the reviews, I was waiting to cringe at the writing, though I thought the big concept was worth a try. I've been a fan of the Marvel movies and collected Thor, The Avengers, Luke Cage and Black Panther comics as a kid. And, I think that's where this animated series does something right and different from the movies. The MCU is a remarkably well crafted achievement for a movie studio. But I didn't learn to love any of these characters from billion dollar movies. I watched Spider Man cartoons and read pulpy 25 cent comics with blammy graphics and dialog aimed at 12 year olds. And it was fun. I think this series is graphically quite good, and leans into some of that comic hero schlock that is meant to be fun, while keying off of storylines that come directly from the movies. I hope it continues to be fun and different.
