Have been playing diablo my entire life, 3 was a mess on release but at least it was enjoyable enough for me to play through more than once. Once adventure mode and bounties dropped it really came into its own. Diablo 4 however has amazing cutscenes but a very bland story that often times is spoiled by the names of the quests. You can complete the story fairly quickly, but then you will be stuck running the same couple optimized dungeons over and over, or getting boosted for hours. The paragon levels are so much more essential in this game than in D3, and they unfortunately tie into equippable levels for gear. Paragon levels also do not carry from one character to the next so if you want to try out another class have fun spending 30-40 hours getting boosted. They also reduced XP gains in recent patches.
Exploiting bugs to run the same optimal nightmare dungeon over and over to level up and get gear is unfortunately the best way to go about it from what I’m told. At least we can pretend that bug is a feature.
I had expected a better and more complete feeling game but instead I got a ~10 hour campaign and gameplay loop that just makes me want to go back to D3. Where I live this game cost 103.50$ after taxes and I have to say it’s probably my most regretted game purchase.
I hope to see the team give it a strong facelift like Diablo 3 got.
