Potentially this could be a very good show. However, the format needs tweaking. It is disappointing in lots of ways. I am editing my review to 4 stars because the episode in Venice was interesting and engaged me. But mostly it’s a show about a lot of people sitting in a bus all day, being given obscure clues and glimpses of European Cities, and then sitting back in the bus trying to figure it out. What is the purpose of the long journey and what exactly are those X glasses for? Can they see to get off the bus with them, or might they just as well be blindfolded? Couldn’t this whole thing be done from a studio? It lacks the intrigue of ‘Traitors’ and the excitement , jeopardy and scenery of ‘Race across the World’ I don’t dislike Rob Brydon, but I don’t really think he’s the best person to present this show. However, I’m not sure how he could make this lame duck fly. Sorry Rob!
I am drawn to watch and participate, but feel strangely disappointed and dissatisfied at the end of each episode. The interactive map for viewers is very hard to navigate, and does not indicate countries, which would be helpful. It’s also confusing. The number of times I have placed my X and gone back next time to find myself asked to repeat the process, or ‘lock it in’ when I already have done it , is maddening. If you want viewers to engage, they need more to do. Even the best player on this trip could not find the destination he needed within the time allowed. That should tell us all something!
