This series had a lot of potential. It was intriguing at first but by the forth episode became ridiculous and I stopped watching. I don’t understand how the producers of Away created this series without consulting experts to produce scenarios based on scientific and medical principles. The biggest distractions for me was the ability to communicate with family members on Earth after being 3 months out in route towards Mars without any kind of delay, as if they were calling from Earth itself. Even from the surface of the moon there would be about a second and a half delay. Half way to Mars at its perigee, the delay would be about 1.6 minutes, so talking to someone on your cell phone would be impossible. They could have easily gotten around this by having communications realized through video messages. Even medical Emergencies are portrayed in a ridiculous way, like how they portrayed and treated a febrile crew member with mononucleosis on my 4th and last watched episode. Ativan would not have worked that quickly and the delirium comes from the fever not the mononucleosis. Nothing was given to lower the fever and relieve the delÃrium. For scientifically educated people, this production was a total failure. It should have paid more attention and gotten more advise on what is scientifically plausible. I don’t understand how Netflix could let this happen. I would have fired the producers and never used them again.
