This was as gorgeous a film as I have ever seen. The costumes and jewelry were exquisite, the spreads of foods and flowers were sumptuous, the acting was splendid & the music was accurate to the period and used some of the best traditional music and music makers available. I was thrilled to hear the Watersons doing "Country Life", Maddy Prior and her band doing an American shape note hymn from the Sacred Harp Hymnal & "The Water Is Wide" & June Tabor. The dancing was accurate and in period with amazing musicians. Glorious!

As a San Francisco Native, I saw the incredible cinematography as the way I saw the city as a child when I rode my bike all over it. That's the way I saw it in the 1940's & 50's. I thank the filmmakers for bringing that vision to everyone & reminding us of the beauty of Jack Kerouac's "white City" (not used in a racial way). I remember well,when urban renewal kicked the black population out & tore down most of the victorian beauties. I worked at the Sunnyvale Child Care center and the Bayview-Hunter's Point Center as well and I remember how the population was doing its best to cope with pollution and intimidation. I recommend that everyone see this wonderful film and see what red lining and gentrification has done to the city and how we are reaping the "benefits" by being displaced from our beautiful home-SF.
