this is my new favourite film. it is so, so beautiful and really brings forward the clear messages of humanity in the enemy, honour and justice, etc. it wants to convey through the actors' outstanding performances and the plot. the ending is heartfelt but very bittersweet. the plot is easy to understand and remember, and there is nothing confusing about it. it might be 2 hours, but i can remember everything in sequence. not to mention the soundtrack from the talented mr sakamoto!! celliers' little brother's song gets me in tears everytime :')
i could ramble for hours about every little detail of this film, but that'd be wayyyyyyy too long, so i'll keep my thoughts very simplified and short. i learnt a lot about japanese and british ideologies and values through this film as well. go watch it!!!!
