Brilliant!! I was concerned that being in B&W would take away from the beauty of Italy and the effects from the bloody scenes, but it is spectacularly shot that I think colour would spoil it. The acting is award winning in my opinion, you are totally taken on a journey, even finding myself with a 'soft spot' for the Tom Ripley character, Marge, Dickie, and Freddie are not as likeable as they were in the movie. Small detail like the landlady's cat watching the comings and goings of Ripley gave the clever impression that he was being watched, gave the story another layer of genius in my opinion.
