I think some people do not get the point of this film. It is showing the real human side of what really goes on when something like this happens to a woman. The film did a great job on showing that healing is not linear, there is no amount of time that will “fix” anything. It is also portrayed through the main character, therefore being her experiences. Showing that it does not only affect her but everything around her as well; relationships, work, even basic human interactions. This film shows that even in her awkward nature she still has empathy for people, even those she does not favor. I am really glad they did not show it actually happening, taking out what would have been a more graphic scene. Telling you it is important but more so focusing on what her life is going to be like afterwards. The scene with the doctor is also important, they shed a light on what many women face when asking for help. This film did a great job on showing what it is like trying to navigate adulthood while experiencing trauma. It does not glorify but also does not dismiss any of her experiences.
Edit: she is in her 20’s although she is going to be a professor she is in her 20’s…. She’s not supposed to be incredibly mature yet.
