I've never written a review before, but I felt so strongly about this series that I decided to warn everyone from watching this. I'm usually so easy-going when it comes to animated series, but this show left me angry at how terrible it was, and angry at myself for not picking up on all the red flags that this was going to be a terrible show. The first few episodes were so unbelievably promising, I was ecstatic to find a show like it. Then, I kept watching.
- The majority of the female characters' arcs were tied to admitting how they felt about a boy. Trash.
- The people we were supposed to see as heroes execute a child; even more troubling, it seems we were supposed to be okay with executing a child.
- Tatsumi's whole thing with Esdeath was awful. Even if we ignore the fact it was basically sexual assault, it was still a hollow arc because it somehow managed to have no bearing on the plot or characters.
- Lubbock. Literally a glorified pervert. His only contributions every episode were to remind the audience that he enjoys sexually harassing women.
- Najenda, who honestly is nothing short of a coward, somehow was supposed to be someone I looked up to?
I could go on. The few redeeming aspects of the show (like Akame) don't come close to making up for this dumpster-fire.
