Reading the Memory Police felt like the experience one gets which is similar to holding sand in his hands while sitting on a beach and watching the waves reach the shore. The sand keeps sliping from between your fingers no matter how strongly you try to hold it… and so does the book. In the end there is nothing left in your hand but a vague experience that somehow is deeply satisfying. Memory police fills you with expectation of realising something within you that is deeply entrenched yet not recongnisable. In order to discover it you want to go deeper , but in the end you realise that you have reached a dead end where it is not possible to hold the thoughts you were carrying with you any more. It slips through the crevices of your brains. It’s a haunting. Memory police leaves you thinking and yearning for digging deep to make a connection with the written material and realise some thing more.. something meaningful. A very different and memorable book indeed.
