It’s just ok. Most of the villains are pretty one dimensional with little to no reason behind their actions other than “it is what it is” mentality. This show also feels rushed and as a consequence of this, you end up feeling like you somehow missed something all the time. There were frequent occurrences where I just had to accept that important plot scenes happened that I wasn’t privy to, and that I should just accept the plot holes as they come.
Furthermore, I wished there was more time allotted to world building instead of focusing on these weird random flashbacks. They were too long and frequent in most cases, which completely disrupted the pacing. On top of this, the most egregious error they committed was introducing *SPOILER* a high tech futuristic gun. This gun literally one shots gigantic dinosaurs and at one point can blow through a cave wall. Yet, it’s only used in combat in one episode. The rest of the time it’s basically forgotten because, if utilized, it would steamroll everyone. No one else has a gun and the most “high tech” weapon the villains have are catapults and crossbows. Since they decided not to use the gun, every sacrifice and every battle becomes pointless because it could all be solved with the gun.
The show really only has the artwork and sound design going for this. It’s clear they put a lot of effort in making this visually appealing, with only a few awkward animations throughout the series.
Overall, they squeezed too much story into too few episodes. They relied on flashbacks to fill in the run time and didn't focus enough on the current events happening in the story. Plus, the gun should of never been introduced with basically no handicaps whatsoever. Really, that was a big mistake. Sad to see another IP get wasted.
