I’m a big fan of the cartoon this is based on, and think the filmmakers did a good job weaving the broad themes of autocracy, science, and rebellion. There’s many great references to the cartoon, and I enjoyed the plot’s mystery. The sci-fi elements are all pretty original, and make the visuals in this movie feel distinct. The movie doesn’t have the enigmatic quality that made the toon so wonderful, but I can accept that was a necessary change to hold the viewer’s interest for 1.5 hours. I think this is a great addition to the lore, and it gives some background to the love/hate relationship between Aeon and Trevor.
