*Focusing on Emily here since the show literally has her name on it*
After seeing 4.5 overall audience rating, I thought I would leave my own review. I can’t believe the rating is this high as much as I can’t believe what I just watched.
Emily is trash who pretends to be a friend while hooking up with the friend’s boyfriend behind her back. Pretends to distance herself from the guy but grabs him and kisses him every chances she gets. If she was a real life person, I surely would not want a friend like that.
The guy, Gabriel, is to be blamed as much. If you are having communication problem with your girlfriend, try to figure it out together as a couple. Instead of eyeing and flirting with someone else and cheating on your girlfriend every chance you get. Grow up.
Throughout the whole show, I was thinking what lessons would the younger audience take from this show?
It’s ok to be…
…a fake friend?
…Cheating boyfriend?
Is the audience learning that your actions have consequences? No
Nothing about loyalty, responsibility, or accountability. There was no character development especially since the show ended with Emily sleeping with Gabriel.
I want the young audience to know that It is not ok to go to a new country and not try your best to learn about the culture and language, respect the people, and try to be the best self you can be for yours and others sake. Your actions effect the people around you so be thoughtful and kind.
There were so many educational messages Emily could send to the audience through her new beginnings instead the writers made her into a trash. By the end of the show, my respect for Emily, who the show is all about, hit rock bottom. If there’s another season, she will have to cleanse herself of all of her sin from episode one to the finale for me to have any respect back at all.
If there were negative stars, I would give that to the show.
