Param Sundari is an enjoyable romantic comedy with stunning cinematography, beautifully capturing the charm of Alappuzha, Kerala. I particularly liked Siddharth’s performance.
This is probably the first film since Hasee Toh Phasee that I’ve truly enjoyed watching him in. Romantic comedies definitely play to his strengths.
However, the film falls short in terms of its plot and the female lead. The heroine is meant to be a Malayalee, but Janhvi struggles with Malayalam pronunciation, which isn’t her fault. The director could have either cast a Malayalee actress or used a dubbing artist for Janhvi’s lines. Overall, the depiction of Malayalees and Kerala feels inauthentic and more effort could have been put into making it realistic.
That said, Param Sundari still stands out as one of the more enjoyable Bollywood releases of the year.
