Mrs Dalloway is a deeply positive, comforting book/movie. I’d guess, from reading the lower starred reviews, young people seem to miss the depths of what seems a superficial set of events—except I recall being moved by the novel way back in college. Maybe it’s a female book? No, many male viewers/readers love the work. I think really the book and the movie are for people who want to consider the magical fact that a life full of dull and tragic moments is even more full of beauty and meaning. The movie was a masterful interpretation/representation of the book. I admit it one disappointment—I waited breathlessly for the last lines of the novel to clinch the ending of the movie—which was beautifully setting us up for that exact ending. But it didn’t happen! Still, I love the movie and watch it periodically—and then I read the last paragraphs of the novel 🥰
