This film made me laugh. It was so amateurish, over-acted, lacking in anything except puerile, crude humour and off-takes of classic monsters that it failed to create any of its much-vaunted atmosphere or suspense. It draws on hackneyed cliches and out-dated tricks and frankly silly dialogue. Audience-keeping, attention-holding capacity? Zero.

Cheap tricks, masses of bad language and a long-drawn-out story. Maybe the REAL Runaways were exciting fly-by-nights, but the film feels like a self-conscious attempt to shock the audience. I yawned.

For those with little or no insight into the "British" contexts implicated in the story, much will fail to be understandable. It is too long, and many opportunities to create more visuality are missed. Frankly, I like bitter endings, or those that leave us with a question, or the embryo of a debate. Here, the cliche ending was the final let-down for me.
