If you’ve watched and enjoyed the original films then you will enjoy this series as well!
There’s a few comments on here saying how they’ve just ripped off the films and it’s not original but it is ‘National Treasure’ of course it will be written in a similar way and I think anyone who’s seen the films and has chosen to watch this surely wants that similarity as that’s what we watch it for.
It has clearly been modernised to be able to target a new audience and I do agree there is a lot of modern “woke” messages in it but I didn’t feel it was so in your face that it overpowered the storyline.
People have also commented on the racism issues addressed in the show - I’d just like to say something on these comments as it could put some people off watching this which I don’t feel is right, watch it and make up your own minds - as the main character says she’s been told to “go back home” anyone who believes that these things are not still said to people of other countries or colour are deluded, I agree that this was brought to light, they have casted a mix of ethnicities in the show, what a perfect chance to spread some awareness - and the fact that the ‘dippy’ character in the group is ‘light-skin’ is not a target at race. Every show has a dippy person to bring a light hearted feel to the show, and he is supposed to reflect Riley from the films. It’s a mixed race group of Mexican, Asian, black and light skin, anyone could’ve taken that roll - again though I didn’t feel like any issues addressed in the series took any focus away from the reason you watch something like this - the mystery and puzzles.
In short it is a modern take on the original movies with new and old characters in it. I really enjoyed it and constantly didn’t know who to trust, the new characters almost resemble how the film characters were and I loved that. Can’t wait for the next season, gutted I’ve finished the current episodes!
