First, this isn’t a horror hound’s movie. If you want to see werewolves making over-the-top kills, this won’t be to your liking.
If you do want to see a well-acted, slow build thriller that steadily increases audience tension to a crescendo, you might enjoy this film.
The Good— The cinematography and acting is stellar. Kit Harrington conveys menace and capricious temperament with little dialogue needed. The cast is stellar and while some find the sparse dialogue off-putting, I felt that there was more meaning conveyed by the actors in the silences than would be with constant narrating.
The Not so Grand— The creature design wasn’t particularly inspired, despite being executed fairly. The themes and metaphors were a bit obvious and clever viewers might suss out the movie’s twist early on.
Overall— well worth a viewing and a far cry better than the general reviews it has received.
