A true piece of essential reading. Huxley - despite writing this nearly a century ago - seems to effortless draw parallels between the modern day and his fictitious dystopia. A new world order, filled with paradoxes and moral quandaries, highlights the worst qualities of humanity. The intertwined references to the timeless works of Shakespeare, provides perfect contrast for this new society; the juxtaposition allows you to really think about what’s important for mankind, and that the sacrifice of autonomy for stability isn’t as good as it first seems. The book does exhibit a slightly abstract writing style at times, but is, in general, a thoroughly consuming read. Shall be reading this again in the near future to really appreciate the novel in its entirety. 9.5/10
