I don't even care about these stars. I'm actually just here because if I wouldn't, it'd be a disrespect for 'The Whale'.
I knew there was something special about the movie the moment I realized the peculiar selection of colors and screen ratio. This movie gives you every moment to find symbols, pick them up and feel just euphoric at your little victory. That's what this movie is. It's a victory for all of us.
I'm really grateful that such writers still exist. This movie raises the bar to a really good level. I don't think I'm going to be able to find anything any closer to this.
You wouldn't laugh or feel confused or excited or thrilled when you watch this. You'll simply smile through it all. And believe me, you'll be happy and sad and empty and full. You also might feel a couple of tear drops rolling down your cheeks, making their way down the cliff taking all that dust from the skin in its way. And you'll feel cleansed and blessed and euphoric.
I appreciate how they chose the best music they could to support a story of such a caliber. I will fall back to these scenes time and again. I swear, I can't just not.
Hail Cinema :)
