What a fabulous sandpit Frank Herbert dreamt up for us to play in back in 1965. This film captures the scale/scope/sweep of the book superbly. Casting and acting, direction, score, all great. Even CGI, so often over-relied upon in this genre was not too prevalent or distracting.
Some plonker has moaned that it is (literally) too dark and that they had to adjust their TEEVEE SET! Quack quack oops! It's such a visual treat that only the cinema can provide. So go large- don't go home. Drag out your family and thole those sweetie/candy wrapper rustlers. We can't wait for part 2, which should properly cement its legacy...
