I’d give this a 4 but some of the reviews are so unreasonably critical, I feel compelled to be a counterweight. Honestly, the costume and sets are worth 6 stars, and Carol Burnett is worth 9.

Superb acting. Twists and turns had me grasping the arms of my chair. Thought-provoking.

Although it was a slow start, I’m glad I kept going and am hopeful for next season. I love the books and their characters, but am also really excited about the changes to Bea & Isabelle, which feels very natural & modernizes the series. Alfred Molina is such a fine actor & makes the Inspector his own. Well done all around!
