Don't let the hype drive your expectations too high, or you will be as disappointed as I was. Its a good movie, but Not a great movie. At times, the plot borders on 'silly', and 45% of the storyline is really not necessary other than the script chasing itself to make sense. Daniel Craig looks his age in this film, and you can almost feel the whole of MI6 groan when he comes back on the scene as if to say 'why won't you just retire?'
The gender and inclusivity quota is unimaginatively ticked with a new female, black 007 and whilst the actress does a fine job, it's a bit of an eye roll moment.
This Bond film shows us another side of James, but it's a side I wonder if Bond
Fans like myself have any interest in learning about...Hulk smashes. I don't really care if he has a dysfunctional relationship with a sibling. Superman protects metropolis, I'm not too interested in the personal relationship he had with his mother. Bond is a trained assassin that keeps the world safe from terrorism, we don't need to spend half the film watching his family dynamics unfold.
Summary: Definitely worth a watch. Definitely not the best Bond Film. Conclusion: Let Christopher Nolan direct everything from now on!
