If you're looking for a gritty FPS and enjoy a challenge, this game has a great deal to offer. It will challenge you to out maneuver and create some angles against a mysterious robotic army occupation in the Swedish countryside. The firearm selection is nice but there are also many alternatives like creating explosive traps or diversions as you wage a gorilla war and uncover what is truly behind these machines. The tough and many robots can often easily overpower you by force, so strategy and stealth are key. Online team play is also a good way to take them on together with up to 4 players possible in a game.
RPG elements are present in the crafting and leveling progression also available. The story narrative has an authentic feel and it takes place in 1989. The world itself is handcrafted well with weather and time changing quite realistically. Since it's 2019 release; numerous expansions have been added (some free or available to purchase) that expand the experience. Base building, a robot companion, story expansions, and ofcourse more gear and guns are out there.
As for performance on an Xbox series X; the game runs smoothly for the most part but I noticed certain locations seem to bog down the frames briefly.
Generation Zero really checked my boxes and would give Starfield a run for it's money if you ask me, but it's likely not for everyone. For those who are patient strategists, definitely check this one out.
