Having watched the first four episodes, this is getting ever better. Absolutely no idea what has driven the negative reviews. Direction is tight, storylines are gripping. My wife hated the Peter Jackson films (I love them!) but she's riveted by the series. This is so worth a viewing. I'm very impressed by the young actors. Clearly talents to keep an eye on.
I've seen the one star reviews and they all drone on about the lack of fidelity to Tolkien's writings. What a ridiculous idea as the works in which this is loosely based we're many ideas drawn together by his son, Christopher - not JRR. Enjoy this as a show forgetting that it's origins lie in one of the greatest stories written.
