Koji Yakusho is utterly brilliant. Bursting with life and sensual energy. He ricnly deserved his best actor award at Cannes. It is a film of small daily things, small joys, deep pain and the possibility of the secret of perfect happiness.

This hysterically terrible film serves up cliche after cliche. Not one split second of it being remotely believable. The result of its desperate desire to shock is that it is unbelievably boring. The plot is egregious. The Actors do their best with unspeakable dialogue however the relationships are all dead in the water from the get go. Terrible direction, laughable cinematography. A lazy attempt at Grand Guinol. A thriller relies on its audience identifying, we don't. Avoid at all costs.

Perfectly balanced, brilliantly acted and terrifying. BBC Drama back to its superb best. Timothy Spall is heartbreaking and Eanna Hardwicke brilliantly on the path to a breathtaking tour de force.
