Beautifully shot, but a little thin on substance. Jodie comer absolutely carried it. One of the greatest actors of our generation. Solid turn from a satisfyingly greasy Tom Hardy and a clean cut performance from Austen. I think this is one that will get better on a rewatch.

So reading all the reviews have we watched the same film? Where do I start. Just all wrong. The interaction with the staff and the royals, the army men marching food in blank bullets cases, one they wouldn’t be marching in that context and what they were doing if they were meant to be marching would not cut muster, the fact Diana’s Porsche we see her driving for about ten hours at the start that magically changes number plates mid drive or the odd jazz porno sound track throughout. Visually stultifying and so so boring. Incredible when you consider the copy available. Stewart plays Stewart as per usual with an 80’s hair do (also wrong bra for the era they would not be up by Diana’s chin in the 80’s) also with a terrible crick in her neck - this Diana needs a chiropractor. This Diana is not fragile as beautifully portrayed by Emma corrin in the crown Stewart’s Diana should be committed and does her a disservice. She looks all wrong too and is Stewart cross eyed or was she going for doe eyed? More like the former I’m afraid. Also why on earth does Stewart’s Diana have a red nose throughout was there a make up shortage? Just gobsmackingly terrible but I’ve encouraged everyone to watch it as it is hilarious. Not sure it was meant to be a comedy though.
