I will definitely have to look at reviews before buying a book recommend to me through TikTok. I wonโt lie, Iโm not finished with the book, and the reason for that is I simply cannot follow it. I initially started reading the copy I bought and after days of trying to get into it I just put it down and walked away for months. I found myself going back and re-reading sentences, even full paragraphs making sure I didnโt miss anything. There were so many run on sentences going on and on about things that DID NOT need so much explanation. It felt like every description of even the most simple subject turned into a long drawn out side quest of a sentence. When I finally decided to give it a second chance I bought the audiobook version, because surly I could follow along if I just listened. And for a good while it was good, and I wanted to know what happened next. There were definitely times I wanted to skip ahead, during some of the best parts would be another long drawn out subject change that went on and on before getting to the point. But I was definitely enjoying it.. until I wasnโt. As quickly as the good โhorrorโ parts come, we quickly move on and we are thrown into a whole new story line, with a whole new character, we donโt know who because it hard to keep up, in a whole new time frame. Itโs exhausting. Iโve never needed to go look up a books review to validate myself and know that Iโm not the only one who feels this way. I want to like this book, it definitely has itโs moments but for me, Iโm better off looking up spoilers to just find out what happens.
Let me serve as a cautionary tale to do your research before spending good money on books you may not enjoyโฆ because I literally did it TWICE.
