I read Communism, Fascism, and Democracy as part of my Political Science major at UM. That book introduced me to some of the ways world nations differ from the Western democracy in which I had been raised. I learned how Communism took over Russia and China and Fascism took power in many other countries such as Afghanistan. After completing my studies, I discovered how the world's more than a hundred nations differ in belief and action, and how some nations work to control their citizens and also other nations. Some US presidents such as Washington, Lincoln, JFK, and Carter led the US with successful leadership. Others led the US away from democracy. Winning World War II produced US world leadership that opposed communism and fascism. One indicator of change in the US toward fascism was the US Supreme Court passing the Citizens United decision. Now, as a result of the 2024 election, Trump is quickly creating a fascist nation. Trump saw how he could make a lot of money by pretending to understand politics. At this time, turning the US into a fascist state.
