Lesley Chamberlain

Fiona Bruce sadly lacks wit and irony. Those were the qualities that made David Dimbleby stand out as the chair of the programme and they were reassuring. They gave us the audience a way of believing that extreme opposing views could always be accommodated in a rational and witty style of debate. Fiona it seems to me has two modes of assertiveness. One is to be as aggressive as the other panel members (not distinguishing herself from them). The other is to carp. (Oh come on, answer the question!). A step downhill for a national institution.
