Not sure what they were trying to accomplish with this movie. Is it a psychodrama? A thriller? A sexy mystery? Who knows! It never quite becomes any of them. But one thing is for sure - it stereotypes blindness in a major way and made wayyyy too many far reaching conclusions about the role and importance of sight. Yes, seeing is good. Great even! But being blind doesn't mean you can't be sexual, independent, get a job, or that you can only be friends with a kid from down the hall. Also why were they in Thailand? Why was her brother in law an unhinged bull painting psycho cross dresser? Tough to say.
