I would give this a 3.5 if google had that functionality. It was good, not great. Its not woke at all, which is a nice change from what is typical now. It’s not a true sequel but it has some easter eggs that point to the original. The special effects were great and better than the original, which is expected 28 years later. But the real-life believability, character chemistry and star power was far better in the original. The character depth for other members on the chase team was poor. The hooting and hollering was overdone and was annoying after awhile. The orchestral score from the original was fantastic and memorable. There was no orchestral score with this one, just individual songs. Songs were good but nothing like a good orchestral score.
The new movie was better with actual science and meteorological terms that point to real-life severe storm scenarios, and I even saw some equations I remember from college when they showed the main character’s cloud physics notebook. That was very cool.
I recommend the movie. It was fun to watch on the big screen. It had a lot of action even if scenarios got a bit unrealistic. There were definitely some comical moments and awesome visual effects for every severe storm fan. Just don’t expect the charm of the original movie.
