As a writer myself I have to rely on research to construct articles about a period before I was born. The danger is to rely on 'pub myths' and bigoted opinions - leading one to repeat inaccurate nonsense. Unfortunately this book falls directly into this category. To compound this error, the book is written in a sensationalist tabloid style that 'looks down' on the reader as if they've just landed from another planet. An annoying book - which is a great pity as the subject matter treated more intelligently, could have been excellent.
