I love this show. Or I did. It's been so clever and fresh. But these recent episodes, since the passing of Phil, featuring an "Amish" character, have been downright shameful. I can't believe that any culture in this day and age would be made fun of with all the racial hatred we contend with. The portrayal of Amish people as ridiculously stupid, naive and just plain goofy is not only wrong but offensive. Growing up and living around Amish communities and Amish people, I know them to be good, kind, intelligent, humble and modest people who would assist graciously as needed within their communities. More importantly, they are a group of people, like any other group of people with their own ethnicity, culture, religion, beliefs, etc. Why are you making fun of them? Why do you think this is funny? This portrayal of our Amish neighbors that my formerly favorite show has chosen is as insulting as stereotyping African Americans and Asian Americans in the disgusting ways of decades past.
