I am a avid Reacher fan, having all of Lee Childs/Reacher books from year 1 and I have enjoyed every one since I started following the series, so I looked forward to the latest book which I received as a gift this Christmas. My score for this book is 3 stars I cannot truly award any more and I think I am being generous with that score. Firstly, it is only 29 chapters, past books have been forty (+) chapters. I think this contributes to it being 'rushed', the story line is ok, but the characters aren't developed enough, Reacher himself seems a slightly disinterested player in this latest offering, there is a strength in the novel regarding the plot, but, for me it is missing something, more meat on the bone, if you will, the story could have been developed more, panned out with more chapters, characters given more strength, in fact the main protagonists had more input into the story, more so than the investigators. But, this is only my opinion, which is subjective, and, for anyone about to read it then carry on, the plot reminded me of the Phopal Chemical Diaster from some years ago, I don't think this was intentional but there were similarities. 'To make a long story short' (sorry) it's just OK, as someone else has commented here, the book seemed more of a collaboration, maybe between Lee Child and his brother then, it was lacking in strength, but please read it anyhow.
